In 1971, the Lions movement in Nepal commenced with the founding of the Lions Club of Biratnagar by Lion Matrika Prasad Koirala, who was a former Prime Minister of Nepal.
- This event signified the initiation of Lions Clubs International’s activities in Nepal, with the first clubs concentrating on community service and leadership development.
Expansion and Structuring (1990s–2000s)
- As the number of clubs increased, Lions International acknowledged the necessity for a formal organizational structure.
- Multiple District 325 (MD 325) was created to coordinate and support the growing network of Lions clubs throughout Nepal.
- Initially, the district was segmented into four sub-districts: A1, A2, B1, and B2, to facilitate regional expansion and service initiatives.
Rapid Growth and Redistricting (2010s–2020)
- By the year 2020, Nepal had exceeded 2,000 Lions Clubs, indicating remarkable growth in both membership and service contributions.
- To effectively manage this expansion, MD 325 underwent a redistricting process, leading to the establishment of 15 separate districts, including District 325 L.
- These districts allowed for more localized leadership, focused service projects, and enhanced community involvement.
